Aptik v18.6

Aptik v18.6 is now available.

What’s New

Packages — Filter by section

A drop-down was added for filtering packages by category.

For example, selecting webfrom the drop-down will display packages for web browsers, download managers, etc. This makes it easier to review the list.

Selections

The GTK app will now remember selected items for each page. If you select/unselect some items, close the application, and then later run Aptik again, the selections will be maintained.

Use the Reset button to reset selections when needed. This will select user-installed items, and unselect items that are part of base distribution.

Backup Modes

Options for selecting Backup mode and UI mode, now use radio buttons instead of toggle buttons. Toggle buttons in previous version were causing confusion for some users, who expected that clicking Backup button will start the backup.

The radio buttons make it clear that these are just options, and that they do not execute an action.

Other Changes

  • Arch Linux: Packages: ‘base’ and ‘base-devel’ packages will be unselected by default as these are part of the base distribution
  • Arch Linux: Mounts: The /etc/crypttab file in Arch Linux is readable only by root. User will be prompted for admin credentials on clicking “Mounts” page.
  • Themes: ‘openbox-3’ will be shown in Type column if the theme includes an openbox theme
  • Fixed an issue with terminal scrolling
