Homi v23.12 is now available.
Homi is an app for protecting your home directory. It takes a snapshot of data every hour and saves it to a pen drive or USB drive. If you accidentally delete a file, or if your hard disk or SSD dies, then you can use Homi to recover the data. The backups can be mounted and browsed as a normal folder, and you can copy or extract the files that you need. Backups are created using Borg as the backend. Backups are incremental, encrypted, compressed, and de-duplicated to save disk space.
What’s New
Prune
A button was added for pruning old snapshots. Pruning happens automatically if scheduled snapshots are enabled. This button can be used to prune old snapshots in case scheduled snapshots are not enabled.
Gtk3 Headerbars
All windows now use Gtk3 headerbars.
Closing the snapshot window will bring the user back to the Main window instead of closing the app.
Extract Snapshot
An option was added to extract the snapshot to the original location. You can use this to “restore” your home directory after a fresh install. Restart your system after the extraction is complete.
Miscellaneous Changes
- Mount & Extract Window: Snapshots can be selected by clicking any row instead of selecting the radio button
- Extract: Allow the user to type the destination path
- Extract: Show the full file name in the progress window during extraction
- Extract: Show the “Copy Path” button as an inline icon
- Extract: Fix action for opening extracted path in file manager
- Mount: Show icons in buttons
- Validate: Validate only if repair is not selected
- Various fixes and improvements

Yes, you can use one license on all your PCs
Tony,
Kudos on the new version. One new feature I don’t agree with. I use dual monitors on my Linux Mint desktop system. The left monitor is the main, and when I open Homi that’s were it opens; that’s fine. The Snapshots window also opens on the main screen. However, If I open the Logs from the snapshots window it opens on the right monitor and is full screen. I would much prefer if it opened on the same monitor as the main program and snapshots windows and at less than full screen, similar to the snapshots screen. A small niggle, but it’s annoying. Thanks for fixing the inconsistency of closing the snapshots screen closing the whole program. Much more consistent.

It seems your system is set up to open maximized windows on the second monitor. The app does not do anything to select the monitor that it opens on. I’ll add an option in the next update to open the log window unmaximized.
