Apex 23.05 is now available. This is an app for managing virtual machines and QCOW2 disk images created by Virt-Manager for Qemu/KVM.

Create VM

A new dialog was added to quickly create a new VM.

VM settings are optimized for the OS you select. For example, if you select OS type as Windows 11, it will add a TPM device, enable Secure Boot, set RAM to 4 GB, and disk size to 64 GB to meet the minimum requirements for installing Windows 11.

CPU passthrough and memory sharing will be enabled for better performance.

The QCOW2 disks are created as sparse files. Even though the file is 64 GB in size, it won’t take up any space on the host system till you actually write data to it.

Delete VM

A new dialog was added for deleting VMs. It will list all disks and overlay files that are attached to the VM. The attached disks will be deleted along with the VM.
